When you first see Mortis you would asume he/she/ it is some form of wraith, having skeletal features and a long dark hooded cloak covering most of its form. But Mortis is infact a familiar summoned by an inept necromancer to be his loyal companion, unbe known to him that the powers that been had other plans for little mortis and so gave him free will...for now.
Being well over 200 years old and not having to communicate with humans before Mortis speaks a strange demon tongue that very few understand.
it knows it has to survive in this strange world until it can get back to its demension so sticking around with the one that summoned it seems a good start.
